RavenPlus Version 1.0.506 - Post Scheduling In Blogger/Blogspot

I have a confession. I actually had the 'post scheduling' feature included in RavenPlus during development. But I had it removed a few days before releasing RavenPlus Version 1.0.505.

While under development, I noticed that one of my blog post had its URL set to my blog homepage. The reason (after much tracing): my PC was running about 60 seconds ahead of the Blogger/Blogspot server - it became a schedule post, which is technically correct. Because of this, I wrongly assumed that it was better to let Blogger/Blogspot set the publishing time of a blog post, rather than by RavenPlus, without realising that I had mistakenly taken the 'post scheduling' feature away.

I am now undoing my mistake with RavenPlus Version 1.0.506. My apologies.

Note:

  1. I am aware that 'Download Recent Posts' will ignore 'scheduled' posts. I will fix this later. 'Post scheduling' is a feature that I do not use and I have inevitably overlooked scheduled posts.
  2. Blogger/Blogspot does not assign a URL to a scheduled post (likewise to draft posts too). A URL will only be assigned by Blogger/Blogspot after a blog post has gone 'live'. To get the URL for a scheduled post that has gone 'live', just 'Publish' the post again from RavenPlus and it will be retrieved from Blogger/Blogspot.

Change Log

Re-enabled post scheduling when publishing to Blogger/Blogspot.

Publishing to other non-Blogger/Blogspot blog platforms is unaffected. Users of non-Blogger/Blogspot blog platforms may safely ignore this version.

  1. T.C., once again I get down on my knees and I tell you.......

    THANKS!!!! THANKS!!!!

The schedule works perfect and now I have working the override date!!!!! Thanks you so much!!!!

And thanks for the confession! ;)

About Laura told you: "In write post "Image border" icon default is solid and "Thumbnail" is 250, but "Align image" is None. Can you do Center like default?....... to make that I choose my icon default,", if you can do it, I really like too

Thanks again for your perfect work!

    1. You are too kind - I am not royalty.

I have to be careful about your request as this affects other users - and they might not want these features as defaults. A better alternative would be to bring up a configuration window for users to set their own preferences. But this involves a lot of work, and I am not too sure on how to do this as I am still quite new to the Python programming language.

    2. This change can not affect at any user, 'cause "Align image" has none like default, a position with not use and the same when you paste the image.

When you paste an image, align ALWAYS is none, then you don't need to click Align image icon, 'cause the position is still none, then if you change the default to center not affect at any user, 'cause Align image is none and the paste is none.

Of course configuration window is better, but is a lot of work, and now we really need Picassa working.

But if is easy, please make center default the align icon. You read that others users ask you the same. Please T.C.

    3. But Align image default is none, who use none?, please I want center too.

Obviously configuration window is better, you can make consider in a future, but now, please change none to center. Please, please, please.

      Post scheduling is perfect, thanks.

    4. Configuration window is a good idea, but now you have too much work.

Suggestion: change align icon none to center, and in the feature (after the more important: Picasa and to study the possibility to download more than 5000 posts) make the configuration window and everybody happy

      Thanks for the post scheduling

    6. Hi T.C.!

I don't think this affects other users. Align image default is none, but who uses none?, please I want center too.

Obviously configuration window is better, you can make consider in a future, but now, please change none to center.

      Thanks for the schedule fix

    7. Hello T.C.!

None is not a good default because nobody uses none align. Center is better. I see your blog, and you use center too, not none.

And please, like the others users I need download a blog with 49.100 posts. I appreciate if you can do something about it in a future.

      Thanks for this version

    1. You are right on Picasa. It might not be anytime soon because I have to dig into another part of the code - again. Going through the work of another programmer is never easy. Added to that there is lots of documentation to read from Google on Picasa API.

    1. The components are actually already in place. All I have to do is to just re-enabled them again - i.e. undoing my silly assumption..

  5. T,C.:
If I paste or insert an image, the align is always none.

So is no necessary none default. because is the same thing. I prefer center too.

I wish you the best with your Picasa update

  10. This has nothing to do with focus of your changes but is a bit of background info which I hope is helpful.

The intermittent connectivity failures I was having between Raven and Wordpress.com appear to have completely vanished following reinstall after moving from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (both 64-bit).

I cannot even begin to speculate why. Although I did NOT use the Microsoft upgrade in place. I did a clean install of W8 and used a W10 installation ISO to do the upgrade. No contamination from whatever was busted in the W8 install.

    1. Thanks for the feedback Steve. Every little bit of information is useful where tech support is concern.

So is Raven/Raven+ working perfectly for you now? I think you had some 'file permission' issues previously.

    2. Yes it is. Whatever was screwed up in the Windows 8 install cleared after reinstalling in a new Windows 10 setup. I didn't even have to fiddle around with compatibility settings or running it as administrator.

    3. I am curious about your Win10 setup on the software side. Do you have Internet Explorer installed under Win10 when you installed and ran Raven/Raven+?

You are right: Raven/Raven+ very much depends on Internet Explorer for editing and displaying HTML formatted blog posts.

    4. Yes. When looking and found it in c:\program files\ -- still present after the upgrade.

There was a PC World article that said it was supposed to coexist with the new browser in Windows 10. Seems like MS would need to retain it because there's a lot of legacy stuff that relies on it like Raven does. But MS has pulled the rug out from under folks before.

    5. Looks like we may have a potential problem in the future since wherever IE goes, Raven/Raven+ goes. Not immediately but perhaps 10 or 15 years from now when Win10 goes into retirement.

    6. I hope it's a long ways off -- IE11 might stay hidden but available in the background of Windows for several years -- at least until whatever MS replaces W10 with.

Raven's ability to manipulate WordPress pages offline is a capability I use regularly.

    7. Actually, I did toy around with the idea of replacing the IE component from Raven+ about a year or so ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a replacement.

By the way, the XHTML tab in the editor window is not an IE component but is of something that is derived from wxWidgets called Scintilla.

  11. Hi T.C: Are you still working in Picasa? Flickr is really bad, several time at day no show the images in the post . In the forum they say that is a server problem 'cause has too many people. Excuse the English

    1. Yes I am. The work involved is not as easy as I thought. The available Picasa API from Google (rather dated I think) doesn't provide all the photo's metadata that Raven/Raven+ expects. So the wait may be longer. I'm still trying to figure out how to go around this problem.
