Giving e-shopping A Miss For Now

"Stay Home, Buy online, We Will Deliver to your home"

says the online banner, or something like. Sounds good to me since we are having a Covid-19 lockdown in my country. All the local shops for none essential items are closed, by the way. This includes pet shops and computer stores.

So off I went on 27th March 2020, ordering some pet food for my cat as we are down to the last packet. And after 10 days, I have yet to receive my order. The delivery status hasn't changed since day one - No Delivery Logistics Information. I did contact the seller and they say that they are affected by the lockdown. I wish they would explain more.

Schools classes have gone online since end- March 2020. Teachers will conduct classes online, but students will have to print the handout notes themselves. As luck would have it, the ink level in my printer cartridge is down to its last bar. So off I went ordering online again on 2nd April 2020. The delivery status - No Delivery Logistics Information. I did not bother contacting this seller this time as I could already guess their explanation

It doesn't matter whether it is Shopee or Lazada (or Mr DIY online). It's the same on all platforms. Nothing is moving. Or maybe moving very, very slowly.

I don't think I will be buying anything online for now. I'll wait until the Covid-19 lockdown is over when everything returns to normal. You can't blame me as there is no difference whether I buy now or later. In the meantime, I hope I don't get cheated along the way. I want what I paid for.

And by the way, here's Shopee's Covid-19 Special Announcement dated 6th April 2020. Looks like I am out of luck. I live up North in the Malaysian peninsular.

Update 20th April 2020

Looks like I was wrong. A few days after this blog post was published, my nephew managed to buy and get some items delivered to my Mum at my home from Shopee. And it was not from one Shopee seller but 2.

I guess the right thing to do, which I should have done, is to contact the seller first and see if they can commit to their delivery within the specified time. If they fail to respond, we just look somewhere else.

So far, I have bought and got my items delivered within 24 hours from AeonBig at Shopee over the weekend - well done guys. So please excuse the title of this blog post.
