It has become somewhat of an annual ritual for me. Come September of every year, I will wait patiently for the return of the Brown Shrikes. Two years ago in 2016, they were first spotted for the season on 16th September. In 2014, it was on 22nd September. This year it was 14th September.
I did record down the dates of their return for the year 2015 and 2017, but I seem to have misplaced them now.
It's the same every year where I can hear them first before spotting them. As of today, I am quite sure that there are 2 of them in the neighbourhood. More is to come - most definitely. Last year I counted at least four of them.
